General Assembly and annual Event

The president of the Chamber Vasilis Paisios made an account of the financial statement and budget of the past year and, referred to the activities that took place, to the new enrolled members, and to the objectives of the Chamber in general.

On the occasion of the General Assembly, the Chamber held its annual event and cutting of the traditional pie for 2019.The key note speaker of the event was the District Governor of Sterea Ellada and candidate mayor  of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis. Many members and friends of the Chamber attended.

The Israeli Ambassador Irit Ben Abba honored the event with her presence. During her brief greeting, she referred to the contribution of the Chamber in promoting trade relations between the two countries, while in parallel she underlined that the tightening of relations during the last four years played a significant role towards the increase of commercial transactions and the improvement of political, cultural, and scientific relations between Greece and Israel.

The president of the board Vassilis Paisios referred to the goals of the Chamber, since the beginning of its establishment in 1989, and underlined its contribution in strengthening and promoting the relations between the two countries by trying to create and facilitate the entrepreneurial activities through seminars, professional visits, contacts, events, publications and other initiatives.

Agriculture, tourism, energy hi-tech, and services substantially benefit the economic cooperation between the two countries.

Mr. Kostas Bakoyannis took the floor immediately after, starting his speech by saying:  "Athens needs real solutions for real problems. ‘We should overcome what separates us and unite forces".  He said.

The candidate mayor of Athens said that "nationalism, racism, intolerance and anti-Semitism are unfortunately revived" and added that "we forget easily and at the same time we do not learn from our mistakes." Moreover, he criticized the recent desecration of the Holocaust monument in Thessaloniki. He then referred to. "His business plan for the municipality of Athens" and mentioned his intended 11 targets during his future tenure as mayor.

Following the conclusion of his speech he, together with the Ambassador of Israel,  cut the traditional pie .
