Brilliant Career in Israel

Dimitris Karoussis  was born in Thessaloniki and studied at the Aristotelion University of Thessaloniki In 1989 he received a scholarship in Israel and after a brilliant scientific course he became  the first non-Jewish professor of the medical school at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Specializing in neurology and Neuroimmunology the 52-year-old Demetris percussion director of the Center for Multiple sclerosis of the Department of Neurology of the University Hospital Hadassah, which has to present an innovative work in Treatment with stem cells of ALS lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Scientists may estimate that they are still almost halfway through the effort, but they are optimistic, as patients respond to the treatment, with symptoms retreating and the progression of the disease slowing  down.

 

Although Dr. D. Karousis works in a country with a high level of research, he  has kept contact with Greece and in the scientific field. He works with scientists from both the medical school of Aristoteleion University and the General State Hospital of Athens as well as the "Pasteur" institute.
